Vintage French ribbed ceramic bowl w/ blue-grey speckled glaze - Les Cyclades atelier, Anduze

A superb, artisanal French ceramic bowl with a ribbed form signed by Les Cyclades pottery atelier, Anduze, dating from the 1960s. Luminous when hit directly by light, this stunning glaze technique features an almost iridescent speckled blue-grey coloring. The terracotta clay used for this piece is a slightly grainier variety, giving the form a slightly rougher texture, later smoothed over with its uniform glaze. A terrific choice for both classic and modern interiors as a bowl for fruits or as a cache pot for orchids.

Founded by Roland François Zobel (1945 - 2004). He trained at the École des Beaux Arts de Bourges and the International School of Ceramics in Faenza (Italy) before he created the "Cyclades" pottery in the Gard region, in the village of Générargues, between Alès and Anduze. The location is significant, as the town of Anduze has been an important center of pottery production (tableware, tiles, pipes, fountains, oil jars, etc.) since the 17th century. He then created the "Madeleine" pottery atelier in 1987 to revive the Anduze vase. He is known for his contributions and dedication in helping a large number of potters, ceramists, artists and craftspeople in the region.
